Former Research Fellow, Center for Energy & Climate

Gabrielle Desarnaud joined the Ifri Centre for Energy as a research fellow  in 2015. Prior to joining Ifri she worked for Asia Centre in Beijing on China’s energy security, and more specifically on China’s dependency on coal. She also contributed to research works on China’s gas market reforms and its renewables development policy. Gabrielle Desarnaud  holds Master’s degree in International Energy from Sciences Po. Paris, as well as a Master’s degree in Sustainable development from Peking University.

More than three years have already passed since China’s new silk roads were launched by President Xi Jinping. When he first mentioned the idea in an autumn 2013 speech in Kazakhstan, questions quickly emerged on the meaning of this general concept, which soon became widely promoted through a large-scale and well-coordinated public diplomacy strategy both in and outside China.

The Network and Information Security (NIS) Directive has been adopted on July 6th, 2016 by the European Parliament, three years after the initial proposal by the European Commission. It paves the way for a much needed common cyber security strategy within the EU.
