AbstractOver the last 20 years, the influence of religious parties in Israel has tremendously risen. The causes of this success are analyzed in this article. The Israeli electoral system based on proportionality, the efficiency of the campaigns led by religious parties, their capacity to attract voters from different backgrounds and their ability to take part in governments can explain the growing importance of religious movements in the Israeli political arena.
