A "Les Jeudis de l'Ifri" videoconference around Francisco DE SANTIBAÑES, Secretary general at the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI).
Latin American nations face numerous challenges. Among them lack of economic dynamism, distrust towards domestic institutions and the loss of political influence at the international stage. How are these countries reacting to the coronavirus crisis? Which may be its major economic and social consequences? Are these states developing a common strategy in relations to the conflict that is taking place between China and the United States?
Francisco de Santibañes is secretary general at the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI). He is also a global fellow at the Wilson Center and the author of "Argentina and the World: Steps for Successful Integration" (EDICON, 2016) and "When Nations Revolt: the Crisis of Liberalism and the Rise of Popular Conservatism" (Vértice de ideas, 2019). De Santibañes teaches at Austral University in Argentina and has published articles in journals such as Armed Forces and Society, Comparative Strategy and Survival. Every Saturday he writes a column in Infobae, a leading Latin American media outlet.
