The loss by China of its positions in Central Asia, due to the American investment of post-September 11 in the region, was provisional. Since, Chinese diplomacy multiplied contacts, agreements, and trade with all the regional countries. Throughout a significant political and economic drawing - reconstruction assistance, trade -, Beijing moved closer to the border country oh Afghanistan, into a certain extent.Thierry Kellner, doctor in international relations of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Geneva), is a Research Associate at the Brussels Institute of Contemporary China Studies (BICCS) and a Scientific Associate at the Institut de sociologie of the Université libre de Bruxelles where he teaches.
