Russia has been a major space power since the very beginning of the space era. After a difficult decade, it is now reshaping its space effort. A new Federal Space Program has been launched and a vast effort of industrial reorganization is currently underway. This "Note de l'Ifri" gives an assessment of the latter. The restructuring of Russian space industries is intended to reduce the sector's overcapacity by regrouping companies together and to enforce healthier financial practices by turning them into open-stock companies. With the aim of making economies of scale, these new holdings specialize around a single type of production.
