Ifri, European ambition and presence

Ifri seeks to become the premier French-based European institute. A European perspective is thus fundamental to our work. If this focus is implicit in most of our activities – analysis of EU-Russian, EU-Turkey, and EU-China relations, Euro-Mediterranean issues, or the study of European security and defense policy, and neighborhood policies – it is explicitly stated in certain programs, such as our European Governance and the Geopolitics of Energy Program, the Space Policy Program, the study of Migration, Identities and Citizenship policies, the Study Committee for Franco-German Relations (CERFA), and the Franco-Austrian Center for European Rapprochement (CFA).

Ifri maintains a presence in Brussels with our office in the heart of the European district. This office strives to create a link between the activities of Ifri Paris and the heart of Europe, and aims to enrich European discussions of today’s most important issues with a multidisciplinary approach covering all the dimensions of international relations.

Ifri Bruxelles

Regular high level exchanges: "Ifri's Tuesdays Luncheons"
A cycle of weekly conferences looking at Europe’s most pressing questions, brings together important political and economic policy-makers, NGO representatives, and researchers and experts from the EU. These conferences take place as ‘luncheons’ between 1:00PM and 2:30PM. Summaries of these meetings are published on Ifri’s website.

An institution highly esteemed by energy experts: Ifri’s Energy Breakfasts
Ifri’s “Governance and the Geopolitics of Energy” program holds monthly seminars dealing with today’s most pressing energy debates in Brussels. These meetings are held with the cooperation of some of the world’s leading experts in the energy field.

Ifri’s Major European and International Conferences
Each year Ifri organizes several high level international conferences, one of which is annually dedicated to energy questions in the framework of the “Governance and the Geopolitics of Energy” program. This year’s theme is “Investing in Europe's Energy Future", in partnership with Euractiv.com (February 5 & 6, 2009).

Ifri Brussels is member of EPIN (European Policy Institutes Network).
